Who we are

Woodspark was established in 2003 and has been quietly delivering quality work ever since. We have done a number of bespoke site commissions in the Garden Route area and have shipped pieces both nationally and internationally.

Div de Villiers is the driving force behind Woodspark with over 25 years of extensive experience in virtually all aspects of woodworking: logging, saw milling, cabinetmaking, boat building, production furniture, sculpture, custom design, the list goes on.

He started working with wood as a boat builder in Cape Town and trained under a German master shipwright who instilled not only old school techniques, but also pride in a job well done. Div eventually built a yacht for himself and set sail in 1990 for the horizon.

This led to working wood in many different countries and in many different forms, ranging from house building and architectural woodwork in the U.S. to yacht interiors in the Caribbean. Here he did interior fitting on some of the world's most expensive super yachts, belonging to people like John Paul Getty and Sir Elton John, to name but two.

In 2003, Div returned to South Africa with his wife and 2 daughters to settle on a farm in the Outeniqua Mountains where he established his current workshop.

He is a specialist in manipulating wood into any conceivable shape using techniques such as laminating and steam bending. A true lover of curves.
